Family,
We started a brand-new series called Bondage Breaker, and before we went anywhere deep, I wanted you to hear my heart:
This is not a series to make you afraid.
This is not a series to make you weird.
This is not a series to make you see demons behind every inconvenience.
This is a series about freedom.
Because the truth is — many of us love God.
We worship.
We serve.
We give.
We pray.
But privately… we’re fighting.
And some of us are tired of fighting the same thing.
Smiling in public.
Surviving in secret.
But here’s the good news:
You don’t have to live in the shadows.
If you came in ashamed — you’re in the right place.
If you came in exhausted — you’re in the right place.
If you came in bound — you’re in the right place.
This is hopeful. But it’s also challenging.
Because God has victory for you… and you have responsibility to walk in it.
“Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power…” — Ephesians 6:10–12
Paul writes to believers — not unbelievers — and reminds them:
You are not fighting flesh and blood.
You are not fighting people.
You are not fighting circumstances.
There is a spiritual battle.
The church in Ephesus had great qualities. Faith. Love. Perseverance. Sound theology.
But they drifted.
They lost their first love.
They let performance replace relationship.
They let culture influence conviction.
Sound familiar?
Sometimes we forget we’re in a battle.
We shift from dependence to self-reliance.
We trust algorithms more than daily bread.
We focus more on finances than faith.
Bondage doesn’t always begin with rebellion.
Sometimes it begins with forgetting.
But here’s the shout:
Paul says, “Be strong in the Lord.”
That phrase means: be infused with power.
You are not the plug.
You are the lightbulb.
You don’t generate the power.
You receive it.
Yes, there is a battle.
But you are not alone.
And you are not fighting in your own strength.
If there is a battle, how does the enemy fight?
Two primary weapons: Deception and Secrecy.
“…I fear that your pure and undivided devotion to Christ will be corrupted…” — 2 Corinthians 11:3–4
Notice the target: devotion.
The enemy doesn’t always destroy you immediately.
He drifts you gradually.
Another Jesus.
Another gospel.
Another version of “truth.”
Today deception sounds like:
“I can handle this on my own.”
“God just wants me happy.”
“This small sin isn’t that serious.”
“My value comes from what I achieve.”
And once we believe the lie… we start living the lie.
Then comes secrecy.
“People loved darkness rather than light…” — John 3:19–21
Secrecy isn’t just hiding behavior.
It’s protecting a lie we don’t want to let go of.
We tell ourselves:
“I can separate my secret life from my spiritual life.”
“God understands.”
“I’ll deal with this later.”
But secrecy keeps bondage strong.
Because what stays hidden stays empowered.
Let me ask you the same questions I asked in the room:
Where have I believed something that sounds reasonable… but isn’t rooted in truth?
What have I kept in the dark that needs the light?
A habit?
A thought pattern?
A wound?
A struggle you’re pretending isn’t there?
Family, deception may be a weapon — but it is not the winner.
Secrecy may hide you — but it cannot hold you.
Because hope and truth are on our side.
“If we walk in the light… the blood of Jesus cleanses us…” — 1 John 1:7
Living in the light doesn’t mean perfection.
It means honesty.
It means transparency.
It means fellowship instead of isolation.
The word “cleanses” is ongoing.
Not past tense.
Not one-time.
Continual grace.
The enemy says:
“You’re unfit.”
The light says:
“This is the only place you can be healed.”
And truth has a name.
“I am the way, the truth, and the life.” — John 14:6
Truth isn’t just information.
Truth is a Person.
Jesus.
So we don’t fight for victory.
We fight from victory.
“Submit to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee.” — James 4:7
Order matters.
Submit → Resist → Flee.
Not panic.
Not chase.
Not wrestle.
Stand.
The enemy barks.
But truth stands.
This week:
Walk in the light.
Stay connected to the Vine.
Resist the lie.
Don’t fight alone — get in fellowship.
You don’t have to live in the shadows.
Freedom isn’t just possible.
It’s available.
And we’re walking into it together.
