Pastor Clayton Hicks is a visionary communicator, dedicated shepherd, and community leader with over 20 years of experience in ministry, education, and outreach.
A lifelong Philadelphian, he is the founding and lead pastor of Resurgence Church—a multicultural worship community in Flourtown, PA—where people are encouraged to get plugged into God, Family, Destiny, and Service.
Known for preaching with clarity, conviction, and compassion, Pastor Hicks delivers messages that challenge the status quo while cultivating real-life faith. Whether teaching on wisdom, walking people through difficult seasons, or counseling couples before marriage, he is committed to helping people trust God and discover purpose through the process.
Education:
Central High School (Philadelphia)
B.S. in Elementary Education – Temple University
M.Ed. in Educational Management – Strayer University
Theological studies – Lutheran Theological Seminary
Ministry Experience:
Former educator in the Philadelphia Public School System (20 years)
Served at Christian Street Baptist Church and Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church
Founder and Lead Pastor of Resurgence Church
Under Pastor Hicks’ leadership, Resurgence Church has:
Transitioned through relocation and rebranding
Launched a citywide outreach campaign during the COVID-19 pandemic—distributing over 15,000 food boxes and hosting vaccination & voting sites
Built strategic partnerships with schools, nonprofits, and elected officials in Philadelphia and Montgomery County
Developed a portable worship experience at a local Movie Tavern, with a growing team and community impact
